One more cabin is on its way to completion thanks to new volunteer groups! John and Shirley Corley, founders of Steppin-Out Missions, heard of the cabin renovations at Camp during a conversation with long-time friend Cordell Brown. The Heart of a Volunteer...And, NOW Employees!
Eight years ago, our niece Maria was recruited to be a counselor at Camp Echoing Hills from a Christian Navigator’s Group at Kent State University. We went to visit her and volunteered a couple of days during camp. We immediately felt the presence of God and the love of Christ. We met a camper named Alice who knew the love and joy of Christ and wanted to make sure everyone else knew it too. She would say, “Do you know how much God loves you?” Then she would wheel around camp in her chair looking for someone else to share Jesus with.

The Power of Serving
Our church – Portage Community Chapel – first came to Camp in 2003 when my wife and I were counselors before we were married. It wasn't until 2004 that a week-long team came. This group was mostly Jr. High and High School teens with a couple adult leaders. They came through the summer of 2006. Now that I am one of the pastors at this church, I felt that the Lord wanted us to begin serving camp again back in 2009.

Their Souls Twinkled Back at Me
My experience at Camp Echoing Hills during Total Care Week was great! I came to serve and share the love of Christ. These campers in turn showed me their deep love for Christ. They took me into their deep waters! The waters were deep but still, and as you looked into their eyes...their souls twinkled back at me! My son – who volunteered with me – blossomed as the week progressed. He had such a boost of self confidence this week!

Do you believe that the Lord directs your steps?

One day as he was searching for a location that could accommodate their Youth Camp and Convention, he discovered Camp Echoing Hills.
The Heart of a Volunteer
Here at Camp Echoing Hills we have a very special group of folks who come and serve. We call them our “Cabin Moms & Dads.”
This past November a couple I had met during my travels came to help during one of our Respite Weekends. It was Tom and Kathy Lasik who saw a need. It didn’t have to do with a camper, but rather with our camp kitty “Lucy” whom is dearly loved by our campers.
