What is an ICFMR/DD?

An ICFMR/DD is an intermediate care facility with emphasis on mental retardation and developmental disabilities and/or related conditions. Commonly Medicaid certified to provide training to an intense, individualized program designed to move individuals toward their most appropriate independent setting. Medical attention is provided with licensed nurses, in some locations 24 hours per day, less in other locations. An intense training regimen is the primary philosophy of the ICFMR/DD. However, activities, therapies, transportation, work opportunities and meaningful life activities are woven into the daily experience of our residents.

What is an IO Waiver?

The IO Waiver is a waiver granted to eligible recipients by the Ohio Department of MRDD through the local County Board of MRDD, to receive services similar to ICFMR/DD services in your home, apartment or group home. Some services are provided directly by Medicaid, while others are provided by the income of the individual including social security funds, private income, insurance, etc. To receive an IO Waiver, the individual must apply through the local County Board of MRDD.

What is a Day Habilitation Center?

This is a Medicaid sponsored program that provides a variety of daily learning experiences which may include vocational work, therapies, the arts, computer training and other technologies, all focused on learning. The term “habilitation” suggests the learning of new skills. These centers philosophy centers around learning.

What does SIL stand for?

SIL simply means structured independent living. A private pay option for ambulatory individuals who require minimum supervision but benefit from a structure set up each day that they can follow and be accountable for.

What is assisted housing?

Assisted housing is usually a federally subsidized program to assist low income individuals with rent and home maintenance.
